International Transfer Flight in Beijing

This was my first international stop when I traveled from Philippines to Sweden. I boarded Air China Airlines. One of the snacks they offered was a yogurt from Nestle Philippines. I didn’t eat this yogurt because I was full already, instead I put it to my hand carry bag. I have planned to eat it at Beijing Airport while waiting for another flight. There you go…It took for me a couple of minutes before you could pass at the China Immigration line. Aside from the x-ray machine that they were using for checking the baggage, they also check it manually by asking you to open your baggage. So, when it was my turn, my hand carried bag was pulled by the assigned officer. He gave me a sign to open it, so I did. The officer didn’t talk but just a sign language. He used a stick to inspect my bag. He found now the yogurt. He picked it up and showed me the yogurt and throw it in a box. I shouted NO…I told him that I will eat that, and it’s from the plane’s snacks. He didn’t answer and he just looked at me. I asked him if he could speak and understand English, but still he didn’t answer my question. I was mad and I talked with another officer, and it was a woman. I asked if she could speak English, and she had a sign of her finger that she could understand a little. I told her about the yogurt. She explained to me in her broken English with the help of her hand that food coming from outside is not allowed even if it is from the plane. I asked why. She said, they have a coffee shop and food stores inside, so no need to bring food inside. Errr…What a business.

Anyway, I have learned that Beijing Airport is very strict when it comes to baggage inspection. When you presented your passport, they made you a photo shot, wow!
I was actually impressed. I wish we also have like this in the Philippines, so that the travelers couldn’t deny that they traveled on that day. You know what I mean?
